What will my first lesson look like?

Singing Lesson:
In your first singing lesson, you can expect a warm and welcoming atmosphere where your comfort and aspirations take center stage. We'll start by discussing your musical background, if any, and understanding your goals and preferences. If you're a seasoned singer, feel free to bring along a song you're comfortable with—it's an excellent way for us to gauge your style and range. For beginners, there's no pressure to come prepared; we're here to support you every step of the way. Your teacher will guide you through vocal warm-ups, helping us tailor future lessons to suit your unique voice and musical journey.

Instrumental Lesson:
Your first instrumental lesson is an exciting step into the world of music. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced musician, we'll begin by getting to know you and your musical interests. For those with prior experience, bringing along a piece of music you enjoy playing can help us understand your skill level and style. If you're new to the instrument, no worries—your teacher will start with the basics and ensure you feel comfortable. Expect a combination of technique exploration, playing exercises, and perhaps delving into a simple piece. Our aim is to make your first lesson enjoyable, insightful, and tailored to your musical aspirations.

Do I need to bring anything for my first lesson?

Ideally, we would recommend bringing a pencil and notebook, as well as your phone/dictaphone if you wish to record your lessons. We highly recommend recording at least some parts of your sessions to assist you with practice and to maintain a record of your progress.

If you are an experienced singer, please bring any music you have previously worked on.

Do you offer exam opportunities?

Yes! At MAS, we utilize ABRSM and LCM as well as MTB exam boards for both digital and face-to-face exams. Additionally, we can accommodate other exam boards based on your personal needs. Currently, we boast a 100% distinction pass rate
